Online Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology

The Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Psychology is an accredited conversion programme designed for graduates who wish to pivot into the field of psychology but lack the necessary academic background for professional training. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the core areas required by the British Psychological Society (BPS), including historical context, biological, cognitive, social, and lifespan psychology, as well as individual differences. By studying this programme, students gain the foundational knowledge required for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), which is the essential first step toward becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Who is this for?

• Graduates with an honours degree (2:2 or above) in a non-psychology subject.
• Individuals looking to gain GBC status to progress into professional clinical, forensic, or educational psychology training.
• Professionals seeking to enhance their general understanding of psychology for career development (CPD).

What is distinctive?

The course is delivered 100% online, offering flexibility for students to study part-time over 15 months to 2 years. It features a strong pedagogical focus on research methods and empirical investigation, culminating in an independent research project. Students receive a 12-month free BPS student membership, providing access to professional networking, publications, and events. The curriculum is highly structured, yet interactive, with regular access to online webinars, virtual classrooms, and dedicated academic support from the University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL).
