PhD in Research Degree (PhD/MPhil)

Tuition is 19,680 GBP per year, while applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Central's Research Degrees programme admits candidates to a PhD via an initial MPhil registration (unless transferring PhD research begun elsewhere). Around thirty members of teaching staff are research active, supporting an MPhil/PhD community of roughly thirty students working across drama, theatre and performance, including practice research. The School has two start dates per year, October and January.

• Admission is a multi-stage process: an online Expression of Interest, an invited full research proposal (max 2,000 words) and personal statement (max 1,300 words), then an interview with the proposed supervision team
• To transfer from MPhil to PhD, students submit a substantial piece of work-in-progress around nine months into full-time study (pro-rata for part-time)
• Central has previously participated in the AHRC-funded London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP) PhD studentship scheme
