Aston University stands at the intersection of modern social inquiry and technological change, offering a Criminology master's degree that moves beyond traditional legal definitions of crime. This programme is designed for those who wish to critically explore the causes and expressions of social harm, examining how power, deviance, and exclusion shape our world today. By situating the criminal justice system within its broader societal context, the curriculum challenges students to think about who defines 'harm' and how these definitions impact justice in practice.

A Digital-First Criminological Perspective

What distinguishes this programme is its specialized focus on the digital frontier. Students engage with the mechanics of surveillance, the complexities of online communities, and the impact of technology on social control. As an Adobe Creative Campus, the university integrates digital literacy and advanced communication skills directly into the academic experience, ensuring graduates are equipped to navigate and analyze the increasingly digital landscape of modern crime and policy. Through professional workshops and applied learning, students bridge the gap between theoretical analysis and real-world implementation, preparing for diverse careers across the private, public, and charitable sectors.
