In an era defined by rapid global shifts, how do we navigate the complex interactions between sovereign states, international institutions, and non-state actors? The BSc (Hons) Politics with International Relations at Aston University addresses this question by providing a rigorous framework for understanding the forces that shape global policy, conflict, and cooperation. This programme moves beyond traditional Eurocentric perspectives to investigate the political dynamics of Africa, Asia, and North America, while challenging students to apply theoretical insights to contemporary issues such as gender, religion, technology, and global security.

Applied Global Insight

Distinctive for its emphasis on experiential learning, the curriculum bridges the gap between academic theory and professional practice. Students benefit from research-led instruction by experts who integrate their latest findings into the classroom. The programme features innovative, award-winning modules like the EuroSim negotiation simulation, which places students at the heart of international decision-making. As an Adobe Creative Campus, Aston also ensures students gain technical digital literacy alongside their analytical training. Whether through the optional placement year or specialized modules, this degree is designed for those seeking to move beyond observation and actively engage in the mechanisms of global governance and political change.
