Set & Props Construction

The New Zealand Diploma in Scenic Construction and Properties is a two-year program designed for those passionate about the live and screen arts. This program is ideal for students who thrive in hands-on environments and seek to develop their artistic and technical skills. With a limited intake of up to 12 students annually, the program ensures personalized attention and a rich learning experience.

Throughout the course, students engage in practical projects that cover construction methods, materials, and processes. The curriculum includes workshops on production practice and critical studies, allowing students to analyze screen and live arts. In the second year, students participate in an industry internship, gaining real-world experience that enhances their technical abilities and creative thinking.

Graduates of this program can pursue various roles in the arts industry, including Set Builder, Scenic Artist, Props Maker, and Scenic Sculptor. They may find employment in film art departments, exhibition and event displays, or as model makers. The skills acquired are transferable, opening doors to diverse opportunities in creative fields.
