About Master in Social Work, MA - Degree Apprenticeship

The MA Social Work Degree Apprenticeship combines a postgraduate qualification with paid employment, allowing you to work in statutory social care while studying.

The two-year programme is split into a blended learning schedule, with most teaching delivered online and one day a week on campus, and a series of 170 placement days arranged by your employer.

Compulsory modules include:

  • Preparing for Social Work Practice
  • Understanding and Applying Social Work Law and Policy
  • Theories for Understanding Self and Others Across the Life Course
  • Complexities in Social Work Practice
  • Social Work Practice: Experience 1 and 2
  • Research Informed Social Work
  • Social Work Practice: Experience 2 (Advanced)

Each week you will attend lectures and seminars on professional standards, law and policy, theoretical approaches to human development, and research-informed practice, while reflecting on placement experiences.

A final End Point Assessment in the last month confirms your qualification and eligibility to register with Social Work England.
