Bachelor in Software Engineering Bsc

At Leeds Beckett University, applications for the Sep 2027 intake are open until Aug 31, 2027, and tuition fees are 16,000 GBP per year.

How do we architect the complex digital infrastructures that power modern life? This degree addresses the critical challenge of designing, building, and maintaining reliable software systems at scale. By bridging the gap between abstract computer science theory and the rigorous demands of professional engineering, the programme prepares students to tackle real-world problems in an increasingly digital global economy.

Students at Leeds Beckett gain more than just coding skills; they engage with the entire software development lifecycle. You will explore how to develop commercial-quality products—spanning desktop, web, and mobile environments—while grounding your work in robust engineering principles.

Applied Engineering and Specialist Facilities

The curriculum is defined by its hands-on ethos, providing access to a dedicated sandbox lab where you can work with full administrative rights. This environment allows for experimentation with advanced technologies, including Raspberry Pi systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). Beyond the lab, you will:

• Master multiple programming languages and development models.
• Analyze database design, machine learning integration, and cybersecurity within a professional context.
• Participate in collaborative team projects that simulate industry workflows, helping you bridge the transition from student to professional engineer.

With an optional industrial placement year, you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise within organizations such as NHS Digital, Sky, and Rolls Royce, ensuring you graduate with both academic credentials and proven field experience.
