About Master in Step Up to Social Work, PGDip

The programme runs over two years, divided into a first year of core theoretical modules and a second year that consolidates learning through two extended placements of 80 and 100 days plus 20 skills days. All compulsory modules – from Preparing for Social Work Practice to Complexities and Debates in Social Work Practice – are completed before the placement blocks.

Teaching follows a blended format, with evening and weekend sessions that combine lectures, workshops, e-learning and action-learning sets. Placements are organised by the East Midlands partnership, allowing you to work alongside practitioners while studying. The course is funded by the Department for Education, which also provides a tax-free bursary and covers tuition fees.
