About the Program

Sustainable Energy and Processes (MSc) is an English-taught programme at TUM's Straubing campus that trains students to develop and operate ecologically responsible and economically viable processes based on process engineering. The programme covers mechanical, chemical, and thermal process engineering, bioprocess engineering, energy process engineering, and materials science, with additional work in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, information technology, digitisation, economics, and ecology. Students learn to combine renewable energy principles with technologies for processing resources and materials, covering applications from biomass energy provision and CO2 capture to bioprocess engineering in pharmaceutical and food industries, alternative fuel production, wastewater treatment, and raw material production. The programme runs over 4 semesters with intake in the winter and summer semester. The first three semesters combine compulsory modules, technical elective courses, and general electives. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, which is based on practical experimental work and builds on project work, laboratory courses, and a research internship completed in the third semester. The programme is based at the Technical University of Munich, Straubing campus, in Germany.
