Synthetic Biology MSc is an international, interdisciplinary programme at TU Darmstadt that combines molecular biology, engineering, and materials sciences to train students in applying engineering principles to biological systems. The programme has a strong emphasis on laboratory-based work using modern methodologies and techniques, alongside mathematical modelling of biological systems. Students develop practical skills through extensive laboratory work and research projects, and complete project work combined with training in intercultural and scientific communication. The programme cultivates independent thinking and the capacity to develop original projects, connecting theoretical knowledge to applied research practice. The programme runs over 4 semesters with intake in the winter semester. The programme is offered at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Darmstadt, Germany.
