About the Program

Systems Engineering in Manufacturing at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg takes an interdisciplinary approach to production systems, equipping students with both the theoretical foundations and practical methods needed to develop, control, and manage production environments. The programme addresses cross-site development of new production systems, lifecycle management, and the identification of dependencies between different elements within production systems. Running over four semesters starting in the winter semester, the first two semesters cover core scientific fields including mechanics, digital systems, automation, logistics, material sciences, manufacturing technology, and information sciences. These lectures are designed to show how different components of product and production systems interact. The third semester is dedicated to an internship that gives students direct industry exposure, and the fourth semester is reserved for a master's thesis in a topic of the student's choosing.
