Master in Teaching (Primary)

The Master of Teaching (Primary) is designed for individuals with an approved undergraduate degree who aspire to become primary school teachers. This two-year program combines on-campus lectures, tutorials, and workshops with professional placements in schools. It prepares students to address educational challenges and equips them with the skills necessary to teach from Prep to Year 6. Ideal candidates are those who are passionate about education and eager to make a difference in the lives of young learners.

Students will engage in a curriculum that includes courses such as Promoting Positive Student Behaviour and Wellbeing, Contemporary Theories of Development and Learning, and Building Inclusive Primary Classrooms. The program also includes 60 days of supervised classroom experience, allowing students to apply their learning in real-world settings. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the diverse needs of students in a rapidly changing educational landscape.

Graduates of the Master of Teaching (Primary) can pursue various career paths, including primary school teacher, head of curriculum, and community education officer. With over 95% of UQ Education graduates finding employment shortly after graduation, this program opens doors to numerous opportunities in the education sector. Additionally, graduates may be eligible for professional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers, enhancing their employability in both local and international contexts.
