As language boundaries become increasingly fluid in a globalized digital economy, the central challenge for modern linguists is reconciling human nuance with the rapid, automated capabilities of artificial intelligence. This programme addresses that intersection by training students to navigate the complex linguistic, social, and technological dimensions of the language services industry.

Integrating Human Expertise with AI Innovation

Based in the renowned Centre for Translation Studies (CTS), this course moves beyond traditional pedagogy to integrate cutting-edge tools into every aspect of practice. You will explore how neural machine translation, large language models like ChatGPT, and speech technologies can be ethically and effectively paired with human professional standards. Students gain hands-on experience in:

• Consecutive and dialogue interpreting, including remote and hybrid modalities.
• Professional translation workshops covering specialized domains such as legal, scientific, and technical texts.
• The critical application of AI for terminology management, post-editing, and transcreation.

The curriculum is designed for those who wish to future-proof their careers, offering a blend of rigorous theoretical grounding and practical industry engagement. With opportunities for work placements and the development of a professional engagement portfolio, the programme ensures that graduates are not only skilled linguists but also tech-savvy professionals ready to meet the demands of tomorrow's workplace.
