Master in Translational Neuroscience

Translational Neuroscience at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg is a research-oriented, interdisciplinary Elite Graduate Programme supported by the Elite Network Bavaria (ENB). It brings together expertise from neurobiologists, neuroanatomists, neurophysiologists, neurologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists from both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Human Sciences, with a focus on molecular principles and the development of new approaches to diagnostics and therapy in neuroscience. The four-semester programme begins in the winter semester. The first semester includes a lecture series and laboratory courses covering methods in neurosciences and an advanced lab rotation. The second semester adds compulsory elective modules alongside further lectures, and the third semester combines compulsory elective modules with two additional advanced lab rotations. The fourth semester is dedicated to the master's thesis and its defence. The programme is designed to lead naturally into doctoral study at the Faculty of Medicine, the Graduate School of Life Sciences Würzburg, or at other universities. Students are expected to bring a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry, along with research experience and the capacity for self-directed work.
