Gaziantep University

Bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning

Gaziantep, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Urban and Regional Planning studies how cities and regions grow and change, and how planners can guide that development to serve social, economic, and environmental goals. Students examine topics such as land use planning, urban design, housing policy, transportation planning, environmental planning, and geographic information systems, learning to analyze spatial data and propose plans for the organized development of urban and rural areas. Coursework often combines classroom study of planning theory and policy with studio-based project work in which students develop planning proposals for real or hypothetical sites, building practical skills in spatial analysis and design. Offered as a bachelor's degree at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey, this program is taught in English over 4 years. The curriculum introduces foundational concepts in planning theory and urban geography before moving into more applied coursework involving planning studios, mapping tools, and policy analysis. Gaziantep provides a relevant local context for studying urban growth and regional development, given its role as a significant city within its region. Graduates of the program can pursue careers with municipal and regional planning authorities, urban design and development firms, environmental and infrastructure agencies, and non-governmental organizations working on housing and community development, or continue to graduate study in urban planning or related fields. The program is designed to prepare students to contribute to the planning and management of urban and regional growth.
