About Bachelor in Van Gogh Tv

The Van Gogh TV project, presented at the Documenta IX in 1992, featured the „Piazza Virtuale“, an interactive television project that utilised various electronic media to engage viewers in the broadcast. This pioneering project allowed participants to influence the content through telephones, fax, and even the early internet, setting a precedent for interactive media that is still relevant today. The project is part of a 3-year research initiative funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and involves the creation of a documentary and an art exhibition.

The research project explores the historical significance and preservation of early online projects and communities, addressing the fragile nature of digital artifacts. Led by Prof. Dr. Tilman Baumgärtel, this initiative aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of interactive media. Students involved in this project will engage in hands-on research and gain insights into the history and future of digital media through collaboration with renowned institutions and researchers.
