Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine

Tuition comes to 4,100 USD per year.

Veterinary medicine trains students to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease and injury across a range of animal species, from companion animals to livestock and wildlife. The curriculum generally opens with anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and microbiology before advancing into pathology, pharmacology, surgery, and species-specific clinical medicine. Substantial time is devoted to practical training in clinics and laboratories, where students build skills in diagnosis, surgical technique, and animal handling alongside their theoretical coursework. Many programs also address public health topics such as zoonotic disease transmission and food safety, reflecting the veterinarian's role in safeguarding both animal and human health. Career options for graduates span private clinical practice with companion or large animals, livestock and agricultural veterinary work, roles in zoos and wildlife conservation, government positions in animal health and food safety, and research in veterinary or biomedical science. Some pursue further specialization in areas such as surgery, pathology, or veterinary public health. This bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine is offered by Ankara University, in the city of Ankara, Turkey. The program is taught in English and lasts 5 years, reflecting the extensive combination of scientific study and supervised clinical training veterinary medicine requires. Delivering the curriculum in English allows international students to complete a full veterinary program at a Turkish university without needing Turkish-language proficiency beforehand.
