About the Program

Visual Communication Design studies how images, typography, and layout are used to convey messages across print and digital media. Coursework typically covers graphic design, typography, branding and identity design, digital media design, illustration, and design history, along with foundational studio courses in drawing and composition. Students learn to use industry-standard design software, develop visual concepts for campaigns and products, and build a design process from research through final execution. Studio critiques and portfolio development are central to the curriculum, helping students refine both technical execution and conceptual thinking. Graduates pursue careers as graphic designers, art directors, brand designers, UI/UX designers, and design consultants across advertising agencies, publishing houses, and technology companies. Others move into freelance design work or further specialize in areas like motion graphics. This 4-year bachelor program is taught in English at Istanbul Bilgi University, located in Istanbul, Turkey. As a private university, the program is offered within a faculty focused on design and communication, combining conceptual and technical training for visual media professionals.
