Master in Advanced Manufacturing – Mechanical Engineering and Production

Advanced Manufacturing is a four-semester, English-taught Master's programme offered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. It is research-driven and interdisciplinary in structure, directed at innovative technologies and advanced manufacturing processes. Four profile areas define the programme's academic scope: Hybrid Technologies, Printed Functionalities, Work Design and Sustainability Management, and Production Systems. Each is oriented toward the research focus areas of Chemnitz University of Technology in a transdisciplinary, cross-faculty direction. Alongside technical knowledge, the degree places explicit emphasis on soft skills that support decision-making across multiple perspectives — including political, geographical, and regional economic considerations. Integrated internships form a structured part of the curriculum, building direct connections with innovation-focused companies and organisations in industry and business. The international and heterogeneous character of the student cohort also contributes to the development of intercultural competencies throughout the degree. Admission requires a prior engineering or natural science degree, with specific minimum ECTS thresholds across mathematical engineering methods, engineering data processing, metrology, new materials, theoretical engineering, and resource-efficient manufacturing concepts. German at A1 level is compulsory at enrolment; A2 is required by the end of the third semester. The programme is based in Chemnitz, Germany.
