Animal Care

The Animal Care program at Belfast Metropolitan College is a one-year, full-time course for students passionate about animal welfare. This Non-degree program helps students gain practical skills in handling and caring for animals, with a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience.

Students study animal behaviour, welfare, and basic biology, and participate in practical work such as cleaning and grooming activities. A compulsory work placement allows students to apply their skills in real-world settings, preparing them for the animal care industry.

Graduates can pursue careers as Veterinary Nurses, Animal Welfare Officers, Agricultural Specialists, Equine Care Specialists, or Zoological Studies Assistants. The skills acquired during the course are transferable, opening doors to opportunities in related fields.
