Architecture combines design, engineering, and cultural study to prepare students for the planning and construction of the built environment. Coursework typically covers architectural design studios, structural systems, building materials, history of architecture, urban planning, computer-aided design, and sustainable construction practices. Students learn to read technical drawings, develop design proposals, and present projects through models and digital renderings, moving from small-scale interior work to larger urban and public buildings as they advance. Graduates pursue careers as architects, urban designers, interior designers, construction project managers, and consultants in real estate development, working in private firms, municipal planning offices, or independent practice. This program is offered as a 4 year bachelor's degree taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in İstanbul, Turkey. Studying in Istanbul places students in a city with a long architectural history spanning Byzantine, Ottoman, and contemporary construction, offering direct exposure to a wide range of building traditions alongside coursework. The program is intended for students who want a hands-on, studio-based education that pairs creative design work with technical and regulatory knowledge, and it prepares graduates for further licensure processes required to practice architecture professionally in most countries.
