Architecture involves the design of buildings and spaces, integrating artistic vision with structural and technical understanding. Coursework typically includes design studios, building construction, structural systems, architectural theory, and digital design tools, along with electives in urban design or landscape architecture. Studio work forms the core of the program, where students develop design proposals that are reviewed and critiqued by faculty, encouraging iterative development of design and presentation skills. Students also study the history of architecture and the regulatory and environmental considerations that shape contemporary building practice. Graduates typically work in architectural design firms, construction and project management, and urban planning organizations, or continue to graduate studies and professional licensure in architecture. This bachelor's program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Istanbul Medipol University in İstanbul, Turkey. Being situated in İstanbul, a city noted for its layered architectural history across different eras, provides a distinctive backdrop for studying architectural design.
