Bachelor in Architecture

Architecture programs train students to design buildings and spaces that balance function, safety, aesthetics, and the needs of the people who use them. Coursework spans architectural design studios, building technology and construction methods, structural systems, and the history and theory of architecture, giving students both creative design skills and the technical knowledge needed to realize a design in practice. Design studio work is central to the curriculum, where students develop projects from initial concept sketches through detailed drawings and models, receiving critique from instructors to refine their work. Students also study building materials, environmental design, and increasingly, sustainable and energy-efficient building practices, reflecting how much the profession has shifted toward addressing environmental impact. Coursework in urban design and planning situates individual buildings within their broader context, teaching students to consider how a structure interacts with its surrounding neighborhood and city. Technical coursework in structural principles and building systems ensures that design proposals are not just visually compelling but also feasible to construct and safe to occupy. Digital design tools, including computer-aided design and building information modeling software, are used throughout studio coursework, reflecting standard practice in the profession. Graduates pursue careers as architects, urban planners, interior designers, and construction project coordinators, often continuing toward professional licensure through further examination and practical experience after graduation. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 4 years at Abdullah Gül University in Kayseri, Turkey. English-medium instruction gives students access to international architectural literature and design references used widely in the profession.
