Architecture is the discipline concerned with designing buildings and the spaces around them, balancing considerations of function, structure, aesthetics, and the needs of the people who use them. Students study architectural design, building technology, structural systems, history and theory of architecture, and urban context, typically working through studio-based projects that require them to develop and present design proposals. Coursework often includes drawing and drafting, model-making, computer-aided design, and site analysis, training students to think critically about how buildings interact with their surroundings, climate, and community. The discipline blends creative design work with technical knowledge of materials and construction methods. Offered as a bachelor's degree at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey, this architecture program is taught in English across a 4-year curriculum. Early coursework establishes foundations in design principles, drawing, and architectural history, while later years introduce more complex studio projects, building systems, and professional practice topics. Studying architecture in Gaziantep situates students within a Turkish urban and cultural context, offering opportunities to engage with local building traditions alongside broader architectural theory. Graduates of the program can pursue careers in architectural design firms, construction and development companies, urban planning offices, or further study toward professional licensure and specialized graduate degrees in architecture or related design fields. The program is intended to prepare students for both the creative and technical demands of professional architectural practice.
