Mimarlık

This bachelor's program in Architecture is offered by Işık University, a private university in İstanbul, Turkey, and runs over a duration of 4 years, taught in English. Architecture combines design studio training with technical coursework in structures, building materials, construction methods, and the history and theory of the built environment. Students develop skills in drafting, modeling, and site analysis while working on design projects that balance function, aesthetics, and regulatory requirements, progressing from small-scale exercises to more complex building designs over the course of the program. Coursework covers structural systems, environmental control, urban design principles, and professional practice, along with the use of computer-aided design and building information modeling tools. Studio reviews and juried critiques are a regular part of the learning process. Graduates pursue careers in architectural firms, urban planning, construction management, interior design, and, after further licensure requirements, as practicing architects. At Işık University, students in this program follow the standard structure of a 4-year undergraduate degree, combining foundational coursework in the first years with more specialized study later in the program, and typically complete a capstone or graduation project before finishing the degree. Being based in İstanbul gives students access to the city's academic institutions, industry, and professional networks alongside their coursework, which can support internships and early career connections in the local job market.
