Architecture combines design creativity with technical knowledge to plan buildings and spaces that are functional, safe, and aesthetically considered. Coursework typically covers architectural design studio, building materials, structural systems, history of architecture, technical drawing, and building codes, developing students' ability to translate concepts into buildable plans. Students work through iterative design projects, learning to balance client needs, site constraints, environmental factors, and regulatory requirements at every stage of a project. Studio critiques and peer review sessions sharpen students' ability to defend and refine design decisions, while coursework in construction technology explains how architectural drawings become physical structures. The program also covers urban context, sustainability principles, and the history of architectural movements, situating individual design projects within broader social and environmental considerations. Model-making and digital rendering exercises give students practice communicating design intent to clients and collaborators. Graduates commonly pursue careers in architectural firms, urban planning offices, construction companies, and interior design practices, and many continue toward further graduate study and professional licensure examinations. This program is offered as a bachelor's degree taught in English over a duration of 4 years at Istanbul Gelişim University in İstanbul, Turkey Small-group instruction and applied coursework throughout the program give students regular opportunities to work directly with faculty and refine their skills before entering the workforce.
