Bachelor in Audio Design (BA)

Berlin, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Audio Design at SRH University Berlin is a seven-semester Bachelor of Arts programme that trains students to create sound for time-based and interactive media, including films, radio plays, games, and brand sound identities. The curriculum covers sound design, sound engineering, music technology, and composition, building from foundational aesthetic and technical skills in the first four semesters toward individual artistic development and specialisation in the later ones. From the sixth semester onward, students choose projects in areas such as music technology and art, music production, and sound design and composition. Students also learn to conceptualise and programme software- and hardware-based musical instruments and to create audiovisual installations. The instrument at the centre of the programme is the computer, and all studio work reflects this digital orientation. An internship opportunity is built into the fifth semester. The programme accepts two intakes per year, in April and October, across a total of seven semesters. Artistic individuality and individual support are central to how the programme operates, and a portfolio of independent artistic work is part of the admission process. SRH University delivers this programme at its Berlin campus, with an additional location in Munich.
