Technische Universität Braunschweig

Master in Battery and Hydrogen Technology

Braunschweig, Germany Taught in German Open to international students

About the Program

The Master's programme in Battery and Hydrogen Technology at Technische Universität Braunschweig addresses the technical development, optimisation, and application of battery and hydrogen systems across the energy sector. The programme is interdisciplinary, covering electromobility, stationary energy storage, and industrial processes. Students develop technical competencies applicable to roles in development, applied research, technical consultation, energy system planning, and the design of electrically efficient mobility solutions such as electric vehicles and hydrogen propulsion systems. The programme runs over 4 semesters and is open for entry in both winter and summer semesters. Three compulsory English-language modules — Battery Technologies II, Hydrogen Technologies II, and Modern Modelling and Artificial Intelligence of Battery Systems — form the core foundation. Elective and laboratory modules (46 ECTS) allow students to build a profile in Energy Storage Systems, Production, Data Analysis, or Material Science. An interdisciplinary module includes language development, with target levels of English C1 and German B1 by programme end. The programme concludes with a student research paper (15 ECTS) and a Master's thesis (30 ECTS), which may be completed with an industry or research partner. The programme is offered at Technische Universität Braunschweig in Braunschweig, Germany.
