Bachelor in BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies

Aerospace Engineering with a Pilot's Perspective

On the BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies, you will develop the technical mastery required to design, analyse, build, test, and maintain aerospace vehicles. This programme is uniquely differentiated by its focus on integrating professional pilot training with core aeronautical engineering principles. Students learn to design from a pilot's viewpoint, bridging the gap between theoretical aerodynamics and real-world operational environments.

Distinctive Hands-on Learning

• Facilities: Access to state-of-the-art flight simulators, multiple wind tunnels (subsonic, transonic, supersonic), and specialist CAE laboratories.
• CDIO Framework: The course is embedded with the global Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) initiative, ensuring real-world practical application through major design-and-build projects.
• Industry Integration: Benefit from longstanding partnerships with industry leaders like BAE Systems, Airbus, and Virgin Atlantic.

This degree is designed for those seeking a hybrid career path, providing the skills for professional pilot roles in commercial aviation or the RAF, whilst equipping graduates with the rigorous engineering foundation necessary to excel in the aerospace manufacturing and design sector.
