Business engineering combines core engineering methods with management and business coursework, preparing students to work on technical problems that also have organizational and economic dimensions. The curriculum typically covers mathematics, statistics, and systems engineering alongside courses in management, finance, operations, and business strategy, often supported by project work that applies engineering and analytical tools to business decisions such as process design or resource planning. Students learn to model and optimize processes, analyze data for decision-making, and understand how technical systems fit within a broader organizational context. Graduates commonly move into roles in operations, process improvement, consulting, project management, and technology-driven business functions, with some pursuing further study in engineering management or an MBA-type program. This bachelor program is taught in English over 4 years at Bahçeşehir University in İstanbul, Turkey. The program sits at the intersection of engineering and management, so students typically take courses from both fields throughout their studies rather than specializing narrowly in one. İstanbul's position as a commercial and industrial center gives students exposure to a wide range of business sectors where this combined skill set is applicable. Case studies, group projects, and quantitative coursework are common instructional methods used to connect engineering thinking with business practice in this type of program.
