Master in Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience

The Master's programme in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience runs over four semesters at the University of Tübingen. The first two semesters are devoted to theoretical training through lectures, seminars, tutorials, and journal clubs, with an examination period at the end of each semester. Course content includes functional neuroanatomy, sensory and motor systems, neurophysiology, cellular and molecular biology of neurons and glia, neurochemistry and neurotransmitters, neurogenetics, developmental neurobiology, the genetic and molecular basis of neurological and psychiatric diseases, neuroglia, microscopy and molecular imaging techniques, tissue culture, tissue engineering, and stem cells. The third semester consists of two laboratory rotations of ten weeks each, carried out in labs of the students' own choosing. The fourth semester is reserved for a six-month Master's thesis, also conducted in a lab chosen by the student. The programme begins each winter semester and is hosted at the University of Tübingen, in Tübingen, Germany.
