Master in Computer science

This master's programme in Applied Computer Science, with a specialization in Computer Science and Technology, is offered by Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Wrocław, Poland. Teaching is in English, the programme runs over 4 semesters, and yearly tuition is EUR 4000. By the end of the degree, students are meant to have gained knowledge, skills, and qualifications that meet the field's teaching standards, along with extended knowledge in their chosen area of specialization. Graduates are trained to apply various methods and techniques to formulate and solve specific computer science problems and to take on leadership roles within project teams; they also develop the ability to design mathematical models, formulate and solve problems, and analyze and test problem-oriented information systems. The first semester covers Advanced Databases, Advanced Topics in Artificial Intelligence, Information System Modelling and Analysis, System Modelling and Analysis, and two foreign language courses. The second semester includes Parallel and Distributed Computing, Software System Development, Modelling and Analysis of Web-based Systems, Mobile and Multimedia Systems, and Foundations of Knowledge Engineering. The third semester covers Physics of Contemporary Computer Science, Recent Advances in Computer Science, Ethics of New Technologies, Fundamentals of Business and Intellectual Property, and the first part of the MSc thesis. Students also choose from optional course modules, including one offering Parallel Computer Architecture or Advanced Computer Network, and another covering advanced computer graphics topics. Beyond this specific curriculum, applied computer science more broadly trains graduates for careers in software engineering, systems analysis, distributed computing, and IT project leadership across industry and research.
