Bachelor in Computer Science

For Bachelor in Computer Science, the tuition fee is 331 EUR per year.

Computer Science is a bachelor's degree offered in English at the Università degli Studi di Messina, in Messina, Italy, over a duration of three years. The discipline covers the theoretical and practical foundations of computing, including programming, algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, and software development. Students typically begin with mathematics and introductory programming courses, building toward more advanced subjects such as operating systems, databases, computer networks, and software engineering. Many programs in this field also introduce students to areas such as artificial intelligence, web development, and cybersecurity, reflecting the breadth of applications for computing knowledge in contemporary industry. Theoretical subjects, including discrete mathematics, logic, and computational theory, generally accompany the more applied coursework, giving students a foundation for understanding how algorithms and systems work at a fundamental level. Practical laboratory work is usually a significant part of the curriculum, since computer science depends heavily on hands-on coding and system-building experience. Graduates of computer science programs commonly pursue careers as software developers, systems analysts, database administrators, or network engineers, and the degree also serves as preparation for further study at the master's level in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or related technical fields. The demand for computing skills spans nearly every industry, from finance and healthcare to manufacturing and entertainment, making computer science one of the more broadly applicable technical disciplines. Taught in English at an Italian university, the program is structured to be accessible to international students while following the standard three-year bachelor's format used in Italy, based in Messina, a city in Sicily with a long-standing university presence.
