Master in Cyber Security Module Details

At De Montfort University, the tuition fee is 18,250 GBP per year, while the application deadline for the Sep 2027 intake is Aug 31, 2027.

This programme is designed for individuals who thrive on dissecting complex systems and wish to master the art of both defending against and understanding sophisticated cyber threats. You will build a highly practical foundation, moving beyond theoretical concepts to engage directly with kernel-level source code, network traffic analysis, and the physical constraints of IoT and Smart Grid technologies.

By immersing yourself in the reality of modern cyber warfare, you will develop the capacity to think like an attacker—performing penetration testing, reverse engineering malware, and executing incident responses under pressure. This course is distinctive in its dual focus: it balances high-level forensic investigation and legal/ethical frameworks with the gritty, technical reality of exploiting vulnerabilities and hardening systems. You will emerge with the technical maturity to make high-stakes decisions when faced with unknown threats, effectively bridging the gap between security management and deep-dive digital engineering.
