Dentistry covers the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and oral cavity. Coursework typically spans anatomy, oral biology, pharmacology, radiology, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, and preventive care, combined with extensive clinical training treating patients under supervision. Students learn to perform examinations, interpret dental radiographs, and carry out procedures ranging from routine cleanings to more complex restorative and surgical work. The program builds both scientific understanding and the manual precision required for clinical practice, and graduates become licensed dentists working in private practice, hospitals, or dental clinics, with some continuing to specialize in areas such as orthodontics or oral surgery. This bachelor's program in Dentistry is offered at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English over 5 years. The extended duration reflects the combination of preclinical science education and hands-on clinical training built into the curriculum. Istanbul's large population and dense healthcare infrastructure give students substantial clinical exposure to a wide range of patient cases. Students also study patient communication, infection control, and the ethical responsibilities of dental practice. By graduation, students have the clinical competence and theoretical foundation needed to practice as general dentists.
