About Bachelor in Division of Global Service(Media Studies)

Division of Global Service (Media Studies) at Daegu University in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, South Korea, is a four-year bachelor's degree taught in English, with admissions each March and September. Media studies examines how mass media, including television, film, digital platforms, and journalism, produce and shape content, and how audiences interpret and respond to it. Coursework typically covers media theory, journalism practice, digital content production, film and broadcast studies, media and society, and increasingly social media and digital marketing, giving students both critical analysis skills and practical production experience. Students often work on projects involving video production, writing for media, or analyzing case studies of media campaigns and coverage, building a portfolio alongside theoretical understanding of how media industries operate. Because South Korea has an active media and entertainment industry, including film, television, and digital content that reaches audiences internationally, students studying media in this context gain exposure to an industry with global reach. Graduates typically pursue careers in broadcasting, journalism, digital content creation, public relations, media production companies, or marketing and communications roles at a range of organizations, and some continue to graduate study in media or communication studies. As part of the Division of Global Service, the track is grouped with other internationally oriented fields at the university. The program runs over four years, with intakes in March and September annually, and is delivered entirely in English, allowing international students to study media in South Korea without first needing Korean language proficiency. Admission requires an IELTS score of 5.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 51 or higher.
