Doctoral Programme in Gastronomic Sciences

The Gastronomic Sciences Doctorate Programme, run by the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences - Basque Culinary Center of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, trains future researchers in gastronomic sciences, transferring knowledge to haute cuisine professionals and to sectors directly and indirectly related to gastronomy such as food technology, nutrition, functional food and agri-food equipment.

The programme is based on a collaborative agreement with AZTI, Neiker and GOe Tech Center, which host and direct doctoral theses within their own research lines; the University of Copenhagen also participates. There are two affiliated research teams: Food Sciences, and Management, Society and Culture.

Full-time dedication runs a maximum of 4 years (with a possible 1-year extension); part-time dedication runs a maximum of 7 years (with a possible 1-year extension). The programme is delivered in person and offered in Spanish, Basque and English.
