The MSc in Earth Sciences and Global Change at the University of Greifswald provides advanced training in geosciences, combining field-oriented practice with analytical laboratory methods, data evaluation, and interpretation. The programme runs over four semesters and can begin in either the winter or summer semester. Only a few modules are compulsory. The programme starts with an Introduction to Earth Sciences and Global Change module, which combines a winter semester lecture series with summer semester exercises, lab work, and excursions. From the first through third semesters, students select freely from a broad module catalogue covering data analysis, energy and water resources, geochemistry, geology, hydrogeology, limnogeology and palaeolimnology, mineralogy, palaeontology, physical geography, quaternary sciences, raw materials, remote sensing, sedimentology, and sustainability. All modules carry six ECTS credits, supporting a high degree of flexibility. Before the fourth-semester thesis, a compulsory module introduces scientific literature, the publication process, and presentation techniques. The programme is based at the University of Greifswald in Greifswald, Germany.
