About the Program

The Embedded Computing Systems (ESY) Master's programme at RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau is a four-semester course requiring a total of 120 ECTS. The curriculum is built around three competence areas: system architectures covering hardware and software; design methodologies including system-level modelling, design techniques, testing, and verification; and knowledge of application areas needed for optimised embedded system solutions. The structure consists of a core programme, an elective programme, and the Master's thesis. Core programme modules develop the fundamentals of embedded systems design through courses in processor architectures, digital systems, real-time operating systems, electronic design automation, synthesis and optimisation of microelectronic systems, and formal design verification. The core covers between 35 and 55 credit points. The elective programme, also 35 to 55 credit points, allows students to build a personal profile by selecting from modules available at RPTU and its associated research institutes, with an individual plan agreed with the programme adviser. The Master's thesis carries 30 credit points and is typically embedded in a larger research project at RPTU, at a local research institute, or in industry; the topic is determined during the second or third semester. The programme is offered at RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
