About the Program

The Visual Computing Master's programme at Saarland University takes an interdisciplinary approach to the full spectrum of acquiring, analysing, and synthesising visual data by means of computers. The programme covers image acquisition and geometric foundations, image analysis including image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition, and image synthesis through computer graphics, scientific visualisation, and geometric modelling. Related fields such as telecommunications, machine learning, artificial intelligence, signal processing, computational linguistics, medical engineering, and cognitive sciences are also part of the curriculum, along with foundations in mathematics, computer science, physics, and mechatronics. Students are free to choose courses according to their interests, provided they obtain credit points from the required categories. There is no fixed timetable. The programme runs over four semesters and accepts students for both winter and summer semester entry. Admission requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field with a grade of at least 75%. The programme is offered at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany.
