İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı

English Language and Literature studies the English language and its literary traditions, moving from close reading of individual texts to broader engagement with literary history, theory, and criticism. Students typically study poetry, drama, and prose fiction from different periods, alongside coursework in linguistics, grammar, and composition that strengthens both analytical reading and written expression. Literary theory is introduced to help students situate texts within their historical, social, and cultural contexts, while writing-intensive coursework develops academic and creative composition skills side by side. In later years, students often specialize in particular periods, genres, or national literatures written in English, with many programs requiring a thesis or extended essay that demonstrates independent literary analysis. Graduates commonly pursue careers in education, publishing, journalism, translation, and communications, and the strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills developed through the degree apply broadly across professional fields, with some students continuing into graduate study in literature or linguistics. This bachelor program is taught in English over a duration of 4 years at Aydın Adnan Menderes University, located in the city of Aydın, Turkey. Studying entirely in English immerses students in the language and literary works central to the discipline, supporting strong reading, writing, and oral communication skills over the course of the degree. Across the four years at Aydın Adnan Menderes University, coursework progresses from foundational language and literary study toward specialized electives, with sustained writing and analytical work woven throughout to build the depth expected of graduates in the field.
