English Language Teaching prepares students to teach English as a foreign or second language, combining linguistics, pedagogy, and practical classroom training. A typical curriculum covers English language skills development, grammar and phonetics, second language acquisition theory, curriculum design, and teaching methodology, alongside supervised teaching practice in real classroom settings. Students learn to plan lessons, assess learner progress, and adapt instruction for different age groups and proficiency levels, drawing on both linguistic theory and practical experience. Graduates typically go on to teach in primary and secondary schools, language institutes, or higher education, and some pursue further study in applied linguistics or education. This 4-year bachelor's program is offered by Hasan Kalyoncu University in Gaziantep, Turkey, a private (foundation) university, with instruction delivered in English. Studying in an English-medium environment gives future teachers sustained exposure to the language they will teach, reinforcing both fluency and classroom-relevant skills. Gaziantep's schools and language institutes offer practical opportunities for teaching practice, helping students connect coursework to the realities of language classrooms before they enter the profession.
