Bachelor in English Language Teaching

Tuition fees are 1,600 USD per year.

This program equips students with the linguistic knowledge and teaching skills needed to teach English as a foreign language. Coursework spans grammar, phonetics, academic writing, and literature in English, combined with theories of second language acquisition and methods for teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing to learners of varying proficiency. Students also study curriculum design, materials development, and assessment techniques specific to language classrooms, along with educational psychology relevant to instructing students of different ages. A significant component of the program is supervised teaching practice, where students plan and deliver lessons under the guidance of experienced educators, gaining practical classroom experience before graduation. The program's dual emphasis on language mastery and pedagogical skill prepares graduates for the specific demands of language instruction. Graduates typically become English teachers in primary, secondary, or higher education settings, or pursue further study in applied linguistics, TESOL, or education. This bachelor program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Middle East Technical University, a state institution located in Ankara, Turkey.
