Bachelor in English Language Teaching

Tuition comes to 1,600 USD per year.

English Language Teaching prepares students to teach English as a foreign or second language, combining linguistics, pedagogy, and practical teaching methods. Coursework generally covers areas such as phonetics, grammar, second language acquisition theory, curriculum design, and classroom management, along with practicum placements where students observe and practice teaching under supervision. Students study how learners acquire language skills at different ages and proficiency levels, and how lesson plans and assessments can be designed to support that process. The program also typically addresses the use of technology and materials development in language classrooms. Graduates commonly go on to teach in schools, language institutes, or continue with graduate study in applied linguistics or education. This bachelor's program is offered by Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, a state university, and is delivered in English over 4 years. Given that the program itself is taught in English, students gain direct experience with the language they intend to teach throughout their studies. The Ankara setting places students near a range of educational institutions, which can offer additional opportunities for observation and practicum experience during the program.
