English Language Teaching prepares students to teach English as a foreign language, combining advanced English proficiency with training in pedagogy, curriculum design, and classroom practice. Coursework typically spans linguistics, second language acquisition theory, teaching methodology, materials development, and assessment, alongside practical components such as microteaching and supervised teaching practice in real classrooms. Students also study educational psychology and classroom management to prepare them for the realities of teaching learners at different ages and proficiency levels. The program balances theoretical grounding in how languages are learned with hands-on preparation for lesson planning, delivering instruction, and evaluating student progress. Graduates typically go on to teach English in primary or secondary schools, language institutes, and university preparatory programs, and the combination of language expertise and teaching skills also supports work in curriculum development, educational publishing, and language program administration. This bachelor's program is delivered in English over 4 years at Bartın University in Bartın, Turkey. English-medium instruction throughout the degree ensures future teachers reach the fluency and accuracy expected of language educators, while also modeling the kind of immersive instruction they will later use in their own classrooms. Bartın University is a public institution located in Bartın, a smaller city in the Black Sea region of northern Turkey, offering education students a focused campus environment for teacher training. Across the four years, students move from foundational language and linguistics courses toward pedagogy-focused coursework and supervised classroom teaching practice, building the combination of subject knowledge and teaching skill expected of a qualified English language teacher by the time they graduate.
