English Language Teaching prepares students to become qualified teachers of English as a foreign language, combining the study of English language and literature with education theory and supervised classroom practice. Coursework typically covers linguistics, English grammar and composition, theories of second language acquisition, curriculum and materials design, and teaching methodology, alongside practical teaching experience in school settings. Students learn to plan lessons, assess learner progress, and adapt their teaching approach for students of different ages and levels of proficiency. This bachelor program is offered by Fırat University, a state institution located in Elazığ, Turkey, and is completed over 4 years of full-time study, with instruction in English. Students progress from foundational language and linguistics coursework into specialized education subjects, generally completing supervised teaching practicums in local schools during the later stages of the program. Graduates of English language teaching programs typically become teachers in primary, secondary, or private language schools, instructing English as a foreign language to learners at various proficiency levels. Some graduates move into curriculum development, educational publishing, or teacher training roles, while others continue into further study in applied linguistics, education, or educational administration. Because demand for English language instruction remains steady across public education systems, private language institutes, and international schools, the degree offers a clear and stable career path centered on teaching and language education.
