Bachelor in English Language Teaching

At Middle East Technical University, the tuition fee is 1,600 USD per year.

This program prepares students to teach English as a foreign language, combining advanced English language study with pedagogy, linguistics, and language acquisition theory. Coursework covers grammar, phonetics, and academic writing in English alongside methods for teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to learners at different proficiency levels. Students study second language acquisition theory, curriculum design, and assessment methods specific to language teaching, along with educational psychology relevant to classroom instruction. Supervised teaching practice gives students direct experience planning lessons, managing classrooms, and adapting instruction to different learner needs, preparing them for the practical realities of language classrooms. The program builds both strong personal command of English and the pedagogical tools needed to teach it effectively to others. Graduates become English teachers in schools and language institutes, and some pursue further study in applied linguistics, TESOL, or education. This bachelor program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Middle East Technical University, a state institution located in Ankara, Turkey, combining language proficiency with practical teacher training.
