English Language Teaching prepares students to teach English as a foreign or second language, combining the study of linguistics, language acquisition theory, and English literature with practical pedagogy. Coursework typically covers grammar and phonetics, methods of language instruction, curriculum design, and classroom management, along with supervised teaching practice in real classroom settings. Students develop both strong personal command of English and the pedagogical skills needed to teach it effectively to learners at different levels. Graduates commonly become teachers in primary, secondary, or language institute settings, and the degree also supports work in curriculum development, educational publishing, and further graduate study in education or applied linguistics. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 4 years at Trakya University in Edirne, Turkey. English-medium instruction immerses students in the language they will go on to teach, strengthening their own fluency while they study how to convey it to others. Studying in Edirne, a historic city near Turkey's borders with Greece and Bulgaria, situates the program within a region with longstanding ties to Europe. Across the four years, students typically progress from foundational language and linguistics courses toward practicum placements in actual classrooms, building confidence and technique before graduation. The program suits students who enjoy both language study and working directly with learners.
