Translation and Interpreting trains students in converting written and spoken material between languages, focusing on English in this program, and covers translation theory, applied translation across text types, and interpreting techniques for spoken communication. Coursework typically includes contrastive grammar and vocabulary work between English and the student's other working language, translation practice in domains such as legal, technical, literary, and media texts, and training in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, along with use of computer-assisted translation tools. Students build precision in language use, sensitivity to register and cultural context, and the quick analytical thinking that interpreting in particular requires, through structured practice with texts and spoken material of increasing difficulty. Graduates work as translators, interpreters, localization specialists, and language professionals in publishing, media, corporations, and international organizations, and the degree supports further study in translation studies or applied linguistics. This bachelor's program is offered by Bursa Technical University in Bursa, Turkey, with a duration of 4 years, and instruction is delivered in English. Because the program trains students specifically in English translation and interpreting, English-medium instruction provides direct, sustained immersion in the language central to their professional training. Bursa, a major industrial and commercial city in northwestern Turkey with a significant manufacturing and export base, offers a practical setting where demand exists for translation and language services connected to international business and trade. The program suits students with strong language aptitude who want structured, practice-based training for careers built around translating and interpreting between English and other languages.
