İngilizce Mütercim ve Tercümanlık

Translation and Interpreting programs prepare students to work professionally converting meaning between languages, both in writing and in real time. Coursework typically covers translation theory and practice, terminology management, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting technique, and specialized translation across legal, technical, and literary texts. This 4 year bachelor program at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University in İstanbul, Turkey focuses on English translation and interpreting and is delivered in English. Istanbul's position as a major international city, connecting Europe and Asia, creates regular demand for skilled translators and interpreters across business, diplomacy, media, and tourism. Students build close reading, precise writing, and quick language-switching skills, often practicing with authentic texts and simulated interpreting scenarios. Graduates pursue careers as translators, interpreters, localization specialists, and language consultants, working with publishers, international organizations, corporations, and government bodies. Because the work depends on cultural as well as linguistic accuracy, students also study the broader context in which language is used, including idiom, register, and cultural reference. The demand for English translation and interpreting skills remains strong given English's role as a global language of business and diplomacy. Over the four years, students progress from foundational language and translation coursework toward advanced, specialized practice, graduating with the linguistic precision and professional judgment required for demanding translation and interpreting assignments.
